cathy davies

Cathy Davies is a South Auckland artist who paints mainly in acrylics and mixed media. Faces have always been her focus. Enchanted and intrigued by the human face, the character and the subtle differences that make us unique, as well as the commonalities that make us so similar, she tries to capture that magical moment, that one simple gesture, emotion, or glance that touches, moves and fascinates the viewer. Cathy strives to capture a frozen moment of reality, the story of a fleeting expression. To achieve this Cathy carefully builds layers of paint, using colour and pattern to captivate the viewer.
