  • The smell of the Eucalyptus - gwp44

This is one of a series of works exploring the quintessential Australian Eucalyptus or gum tree. This tree has also been a part of the Aotearoa New Zealand landscape since the early European settlers. Recent discoveries of fossils of the trees here suggest they have been part of our landscape for thousands of years earlier than we had realised. The Eucalyptus is used medicinally and is considered of great emotional and spiritual significance to the Aboriginal people. The beautiful colours of the Eucalyptus conjuring the reminder of the pungent smell of the leaves. Open edition Giclee art print - archival inks and papers A4+ $84 plus postage
  • daylight has done its last - gwf

The Fibre Series – These works are all slow stitched (everything done by hand), they use vintage and scraps of recycled fabrics. The stitches are a form of mark making as well as function to hold the pieces in place. As a young child I was fascinated with fibre and fabrics, it is a medium that I still can’t resist. Slow stitching has become an important part of my art practice, the free use of the thread and needle, beautiful fabrics and scraps ends up being an abstraction of the works I so love to paint.
